नेपालमा विश्व आदिवासी दिवस अगष्ट ९ मनाउइदै
16th World Indigenous Day August 9 Celebration in Nepal

Kathmandu, August 4, 2008- Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) is all set to celebrate this year’s World Indigenous Day August 9 for an entire week (August 3-9) in Kathmandu with a key slogan: "Right to Cultural Autonomy and Self Determination, Basis for Making Independent Federalism and Prosperous New Nepal (Jatiya Swayatata ra Aatmanirnayeko Aadhikar, Swadhin Sangghiya ra Samridhi Nepal Nirmanko Mul Aadhar)".

NEFIN, the main host of the event organized a press meeting on Monday in the capital to inform about week-long programs of the Day.

Pasang Sherpa, President of NEFIN, announced that the week-long programs are to celebrate in a grand way.

He highlighted the importance of this day stating, "The issue of Federalism is limited within its theory, and discussion has not been yet centered about its implementation. Thus, to make the outline of the state's restructure and federalism, this day important."

NEFIN announced that there will be participation by different cultural organizations of Indigenous People of the country and other associations, organizations and individuals who are struggling for their rights, during the event.

With the participation of Nepal Government's high representatives, Diplomatic Agency chiefs, National and International community's representatives, Political Parties, representatives of Civil Society and Constitution Assembly Members, the celebration of World Indigenous Day is taking place at Dasrath Stadium, Tripureshwor in Kathmandu on August 9.

As per its week long programs, Interaction on the topic "New Education Policy in New Constitution" to be organized by Nepal Federation of Indigenous Students is scheduled for August 5.

Similarly, the National Political Conference on August 6 by NEFIN, Sports and Food Festival, Interaction on International Convention by Nepal Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities (NFDIN) on August 7, Inauguration of Cultural Festival on August 8, and the main event on August 9.

The United Nations has been celebrating World Indigenous Day since 1995 A.D.

नेपाल आदिवासी जनजाति महासंघको सबै जिल्ला समन्वय परिषदहरु।

बिषय : विश्व आदिवासी दिवस २०६५ मनाउने बारे।

उपरोक्त बिषयमा संसारभरीमा आदिवासीहरुले मनाउने विश्व आदिवासी दिवस अगष्ट ९ लाई नेपालका आदिवासी जनजातिहरुले पनि हरेक वर्ष यो दिवस लाई आदिवासी जनजातिहरुको मूल पर्वको रुपमा बिविध कार्यक्रमहरु आयोजना गरी मनाउने गरेको हामी सबैलाई विदितै छ।

नेपाल आदिवासी जनजाति महासंघले यो वर्ष पनि विश्व आदिवासी दिवस २०६५ को मुल कार्यक्रम काठमाण्डौमा आयोजना गर्ने र महासंघको जिल्ला समन्व परिषद्हरुले पनि सबै जिल्लामा जिल्ला स्तरीय कार्यक्रम आयोजना गर्ने भनी नेपाल आदिवासी जनजाति महासंघ संघिय परिषदको बैठकले निर्णय गरेको छ।

अत : महासंघको उक्त निर्णय अनुसार सबे जिल्ला समन्वय परिषदहरुले पनि विश्व आदिवासी दिवस २०६५ लाई आफ्नो जिल्लामा जि.स.प.को स्थानिय तहमा आफ्नै स्रोत साधानको व्यवस्था गरी भव्यताका साथ कार्यक्रमहरु आयोजना गरी मनाउनु हुन अनुरोध गरीन्छ।

विश्व आदिवासी दिवस २०६५ को मूल नारा यस प्रकार रहेको छ:
जातिय स्वायत्तता र आत्मनिर्णयको अधिकार।
स्वाधीन, संघीय र समृद्ध नेपाल निर्माणको मूल आधार।।
