Statue of Liberty or 'Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World' (by sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi, France) is one of the famous landmarks of the United States. It is located on a 12 acre island which is in the New York & New Jersey Harbor. The statue is 305 feet (92.96 m) tall from the foundation and 151 feet (46.02 m) tall from its feet.
It was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and now is considered a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty National Monument officially celebrated her 100th birthday on October 28, 1986. (04/16/2008).
