New York- The Greater New York (NY-NJ) Chapter of Madheshi Association in America (MAA) held its first press conference & community leader meet & greet event followed by welcome reception of MAA central committee president Suneel Sah.

The event started with address by MAA central executive committee President Suneel Sah who informed about formation of MAA which is formed with the objective to clebrate and preserve madhesi culture and indentity and to work on the greater benefits and welfare programs for Madheshis in Nepal and abroad. Further, Mr. Sah stressed about the guiding principle of inclusiveness and wider particpative decision making process of MAA.



Dr. Binod Shah (one of the founding member of MAA) elaborated about the formation of MAA organization and emphasis on the importance for mutual respect among all madheshis irrespective fo their socio-economic background. Dr. Shah also clarify about his disassociation from ANTA & all related activities. Dr. Shah further deliberated on various ideas to expand the reach of MAA and pursue its objective of promoting culture, socio-economic empowerment and enhancing close co-operation among Madheshis, Nepalese & Non-Nepalese in USA.



The event was concluded with address by newly elected President of Greater New York (NY/NY) MAA chapter, Manoj Kumar Singh who pledged his dedication and efforts for the casue of MAA and also announced an event to celebrate Holi in New York on Sunday, 12th March 2017 at Sunnyside Community Hall, Quuens, NY. Further, Mr. Singh said this year Holi event will provide an opportunity to all friends and families in USA in New York New- Jersey Region to come together at one place to recreate the magic of this wonderful festival, showcase & celebrate the Madheshi culture and heritage. This Holi event will also focus to raise the fund to establish MAA Emergency Relief Fund to provide financial support to fellow community members in any urgent situation.

This event was hosted by MAA-Greater New York Chapter General Secretary Dipendra Yadav & vote of thanks was presented by Secretary Nidhi Rani Sah.
