एउटा सुनौलो बिहानीले पर्खिरहेछ A Bright Future Awaits Us These three months in which USNepalOnline.Com has delivered the news from Nepal and from the Nepalese Diaspora around the world have been challenging and exciting. At the same time, Nepal went through its most critical and the most jubilant moments. The King was suspended and an interim parliament agreed to declare Nepal a republic after the CA election. On the other side, people of the Terai and Eastern Nepal sought to have their rights heard and implemented. Government brutality, even after the Jana Andolan-2, became the burning face of the nation. This was not what we wanted to happen in Nepal. Peoples’ participation in nation building is crucial for a new Nepal. Unfortunately, this new “progressive” seven-party government has not succeeded in reflecting the true spirit of the Nepalese people. Listening to different regions and different indigenous peoples’ demands, and giving them opportunity to reconcile with the new Nepal, was a vital step along the way to the CA election. But the government failed to address all these essential ingredients of true democracy. That explains why people in Terai and Eastern Nepal feel they are left with no option but to fight back to make their voices heard. As we look toward our future as a nation, we face many more challenging times. We cannot wait and waste another decade fighting for yet another cause. We need to sort it out NOW, and take Nepal into the global arena where we can catch up with the rest of the world. Development of Nepal is around the corner if we stabilize our country. Peace is paramount. Corruption should be rooted out of every sector of our society from governmental to non-governmental. Nepal has seen more bloodshed than was called for to bring freedom and justice. The time has come to stop war. Replace it with the gift of peace coupled with development. We must not forget the sacrifices of the thousands of our Nepalese brothers and sisters who died for new Nepal. Their dreams must be realized. As we look to the future, let us unite and work together. A bright shining future is waiting in the wings. February 25, 2008, New York, USA पुराना संपादकीय पढ्नुहोस् Read Editorial Archives» |
