New York, November 27, 2008- Thanksgiving Day, a harvest festival which began in the early 16th century in the United States and is celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday of November.

In New York City, the 82nd annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade organized early this morning and thousands of performers marched on the streets of New York City. The 2.5-mile long route ran from 77th Street and Central Park West to Herald Square, in front of Macy's Department store, the world's largest retail establishment.

Organizers expected that 3.5 million spectators along the parade route and more than 50 million would watch on television.

44 giant and small balloons, and floats with movie characters, singers and dancers filled the parade. In its 82 years the Macy's Parade has evolved from a modest puppet performance into an event which promotes big business brands, movies and Broadway theater.

Traditionally, Thanksgiving was celebrated to be thankful for the bounty of the harvest in the farms and in rural areas but in present times American families and friends gather in their homes in a no-excuse-get-together and indulge in large turkey dinners with all the trimmings of a variety of vegetables, pumpkin pie, apple pie and pecan pie.

What's interesting? The New York Times featured yesterday an article by Kim Severson "If the Pilgrims Went to Business School" in the Dining Section where she mentioned appointing of a C.E.O. of Thanksgiving and how it is important to organize an effective Thanksgiving dinner party and how it relates to running a successful company.

Here, Henrietta is the C.E.O. of our Thanksgiving Day dinner with Stephanie as her co-host. The dinner was fantastic and it was the first Thanksgiving party for USNepalOnline. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
