Tamang leaders emphasize the importance of unity among their organizations to uplift the Tamang community and to preserve its cultural and traditional practices.

They urged leaders to develop common views and goals to effectively address their issues.

Speaking at the programme organized by Nepal Tamang National Federation (NTNF) to mark its 7th anniversary, the Tamang personalities urged their leaders to work for the identity and welfare of Tamang Peoples.

The President of National Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NFIN), Mr Pasang Sherpa who chaired the function, expressed his great dissatisfaction over the unequal representation of 59 enlisted ethnic groups in the Constitution Assembly (CA).

"We have been demanding the participation of all ethnic communities in the CA but the political parties have excluded 28 ethnic groups, in contradiction of the provisions of the Interim Constitution. In past times they ignored the agreement made between Janajati leaders and the government. That was a great deception upon the Janajaties" he stated.

Adding that the Indigenous People have actively participated in several historic democratic movements for equal rights and opportunities, Sherpa said "This is complete discrimination against the Indigenous Peoples; these parties are exhibiting signs of lack of inclusion. There may be a huge ethnic movement in the near future if the state doesn't give space to all ethnic groups in the CA."

Sherpa has withdrawn his name from the list of CA members giving as his reason that there is no representation of those 28 ethnic groups in the CA. He also urged the Tamang organizations to coordinate with each other and fight for their rights.

General Secretary of NTNF, Shaym Tamang highlighted the objectives of NTNF and committed to work for the betterment of the Tamang people who have been oppressed for long periods.

Thanka artiste Nima Gyamchho Bal stated that all the Tamang organizations ought to be merged into a single organization to solve existing problems faced by the Tamang community in the society.

Similarly, Tamang Women Media personality, Ramita Bal said that the newly elected Tamang Constitution Assembly Members may not make a good constitution if they are not capable of addressing Tamangs' issues.

It is a surprise to see for the first time the representatives of different Tamang organizations attending the function wishing for the success of NTNF in coming days.
Central Chairperson of Nepal Tamang Ghedung, Dhan Prasad Tamang and Chairperson of Nepal Tamang National Ghedun, Bir Bahadur Tamang were seen together on the stage. Each one of them expressed their commitment to work for the development and identity of Tamang community.

During the programme, D. B. Bomjan, Chairperson of NTNF, Sherab Dorje Lama, Chiniya Lama and various other speakers expressed their best wishes for the federation.
