न्यू योर्क, 29 Jan, 09- गूगल, याहू र माईक्रोसफ्ट जस्ता ईन्टरनेट सर्च इन्जिनहरुको जगजगी चलिरहेको साइबर विश्वमा 'सगुन' (www.sagoon.com) नामक नयाँ सर्च इन्जिनको शुरुवात आजैदेखी भएको छ। र, त्यसका संस्थापक, परिकल्पनाकार हुन्‌- अमेरिकि नागरिक बनेका नेपाली छोरो गोबिन्द गिरी। धनकुटाका गोबिन्द कसरी यहाँसम्म आइ पुगे त?

हो, धनकुटा, लेगुवाका गोबिन्द गिरी www.sagoon.com को परिकल्पनाकार, निर्माणकर्ता र संस्थापक हुन्‌। गूगल, याहू जस्ता सर्च इन्जिन जाएन्‍टस्‌सँग पौठेजोरी खेल्न कस्सिएका गोबिन्दले युएस नेपाल अनलाइनलाई आज बिहानै अमेरिकि राज्य भर्जिनियाबाट टेलिफोनमा बताए-

"हामी कसैसँग प्रतिस्पर्धा गर्न उत्रिएका होइनौं। अनलाइन खोजिकर्ता पाठकहरुलाई हाम्रो आफ्नो सेवा गर्ने अठोटलाई पुरा गर्न यो कामको थालनी गरेका हौं।"

दुई बर्ष अघी कामबाट घर फर्किदै गर्दा 'सगुन' (Sagoon) नाम जुराएको र घरमा आएपछि आफ्नी श्रीमती शुशिला गिरी र बहिनी सुनिता गिरीसँग नामको बारेमा "कस्तो लाग्छ?" भनेर उनिहरुसँग पहिले सल्लाह मागेको उनले बताए।

झन्डै ३ लाख अमेरिकि डलर अर्थात २ करोड ३४ लाख लगानीमा निर्माण गरिएको यो सर्च इन्जिन बनाउनका पछाडि पेशाले सिस्टम इन्जिनियर गोबिन्द गिरिको परिकल्पनाको जति महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका छ उत्ती नै ठुलो भूमिका Dr. Niladri Chatterjee र अर्को एक नाम उल्लेख गर्न नचाहने भारतीय प्रोफेसरको word vector अल्गोरिदमको उतिकै योगदान छ।

उता यिनका अनन्य मित्र शिव ढकाल, जो 'आइबिएम' मा कम्प्युटर इन्जिनियर छन्, को आर्थिक लगानी र हौसला पनि सगुन प्रोजेक्टको मेरुदन्ड भएको गोबिन्द बताउँछन्।

नेपालको छिमेकी मुलुक भारतको राजधानी दिल्लीस्थित भारतीय आइटि कम्पनी Elixir Web Solutions का ७ जना प्रोग्रामएर्स, जसले यो सर्च इन्जिनको कोडिङ सम्पन्न गरे, पनि उत्तिकै धन्यवादका पात्र बनेकाछन्।

गोबिन्दको मक्सद ठुलो छ, उनी भन्छन्- "मेरो परिकल्पनाको शिर्फ १५ प्रतिसत लक्ष्य पुरा भएको छ, बाँकी भबिश्यमा पुरा गर्ने योजाना बनाइदैछ।" ति लक्ष्य के के हुन् त?, त्यो भने उनले अहिल्यै सबै बताउन चाहेनन्।

भबिश्यमा सगुनलाई गूगल, याहू र माईक्रोसफ्ट जस्ता ईन्टरनेट सर्च इन्जिनका धन र एक से एक टेक्नोलोजी भएका कम्पनिहरुलाई बेच्ने बिचार छ कि ? यो पङ्तिकारको प्रश्न्को जवाफ दिदै उनले भने- "मेरो उद्धेश्य सेवा हो। उनिहरुको सेवाबाट चित्त नबुझेर यो 'सगुन' को निर्माण गर्न लागेको हुँ। पार्ट्नर्शिप हुन सक्छ। याहूसँग Yahoo Boss बाट डाटा कल गर्ने सम्झौता गरिएको छ। भर्खरै माइक्रोसप्टले हाम्रो प्रोपोजल अध्ययन गरिरहेको छ। तर अर्को १० बर्षसम्म आफ्नै बलबुतामा चलाऊने बिचार छ।"

उनले ब्यक्तिगत र कर्पोरेट लगानीका लागि आफु तयार भएको बताए। आफुसँग अर्को ८ महिनाको लागि खर्च धान्ने रुन्निङ क्यापिटल भएको पनि उनले बताए।

'सगुन' को होस्टिङ चाँही अमेरिकी डलर १७ हजार पर्ने दुई वटा निजी सर्भर र दुई वटा सर्भर महिनाको १२ सय डलरमा भाडामा लिएर राखिएको सर्भरहरुबाट गरिएको रहेछ।

धनकुटा, लेगुवाका गोबिन्द गिरी अहिले अमेरिकि नागरिक बनिसकेका छन्। उनी अमेरिकि सरकारको एक फेडेरल डिपार्ट्मेन्टमा सिस्टम इन्जिनियरको रुपमा काम गर्दछन्। यिनको नाम विश्व परिक्रमा पत्रिकाका प्रधान सम्पादक गोबिन्द गिरी 'प्रेरणा' सँग मिल्ने भएकोले तपाईं झुक्किनु होला, तर यिनी बिल्कुल अर्कै गोबिन्द गिरी हुन्।

नेपालमा नेपाली भाषामा एमए (स्नातोकोत्तर) गरेर १५ बर्ष अघी अमेरिका आएका कबी, लेखक गोबिन्द कसरी आइ टि प्रोफेसनल हुन पुगे त? त्यसो त यिनलाई कम्प्युटर सम्बन्धी पहिल्यैदेखी चासो रहेछ। तर नेपालमा पास गरेको आफ्नो एमए सर्टिफिकेटको अमेरिकि विश्व बिद्यालयमा पढ्न पढाई गर्ने कुनै क्रेडिट नमिले पछि यिनले फेरी ४ बर्ष लगाएर Associate undergraduate degree हासिल गर्न वाध्य भएका रहेछन्। कम्प्युटरमा मुख्य बिषय लिएर पढेका गोबिन्द अहिले भने एमबिए गर्दैछन्। यिनका श्रीमती शुशिला गिरी र ५ बर्शिय छोरी गरिमा छन्।

Launching Sagoon ...an exciting moment

Welcome all:

This blog will be the place where we post our products’ improvements, describe new features, update old ones, and provide information of our small start-ups.

Today is an exciting day for us and we are all taking a deep breath. Finally, our dream of serving users is coming true.

When you dream of something big, it takes a long time to realize it. Sagoon has been no exception. Two years ago, it was no more than a glimmer of an idea. However, my desire to build a search portal became so strong soon, I was having sleepless nights. But it was still a faraway dream for me as I did not have financial backup to kick-start such a venture.

One fine day, I went to see my good friend Shiba - with his encouraging premises we started building Sagoon. We faced many ups and downs, encouragements as well as discouragements, and appreciation as well as brickbats. But we stuck to our dream and today, after much struggle, Sagoon is actually getting launched.
The realization of the dream involved many friends and online industries. We would like to thank all those who supported us during this difficult task – Mr. Aristotle Thapa, Dr. Niladri Chatterjee, Mr. Umesh Giri, Mr. Ramjee Pahadee, Mr. Mohan Giri, Mr. Nabin Chuwan, Mrs. Sunita Khadka and of course countless support from my wife Sushila Giri. In addition, we would also like to thank all our partners including Elixir Web Solutions, Yahoo, Daylife, Blinkx, and RAN Research. I hope we will continue receiving your help, support, and collaboration in the future.

Sagoon’s launch is the beginning of our journey – a journey that will no doubt face bigger challenges and more responsibilities. But this is also an opportunity to work with the millions users everyday. With the progress of time, we will be exploring more ideas and incorporating more advanced technology in order to provide better services.

Sagoon also welcomes interested investors, business gurus, VC, and technology-savvy entrepreneurs to help us fulfill our goals. Talented and experienced individuals are also invited to become a part of our management team.
