Kathmandu, May 28, 2008- A huge public rally to welcome the announcement of Republican State has taken out by the peoples of Nepal here in Kathmandu. The rally started from Basantapur in the morning that went through New Road, Ratnapark, Maitighar Mandala, New Baneshwor and concluded at Tinkune, near Tribuwan International Airport, Kathmandu.
The Civil Society, Human Rights Activities, various Artists, representatives from different organizations and general public took part in the rally.
People on the street of Kathmandu seem very happy and joyful in this historic movement to welcome Republic and to put end to a 240 years long monarchy. They are enthusiastically waiting for the announcement of implementation of Republic by the first meeting of Constitution Assembly today this afternoon.
The first meeting of Constitution Assembly will formally declare the implementation of Republic in the country that would end monarchy. The meeting starts at 3:00 pm.
They hope the new Nepal would bring democracy in the country in a true sense where the rights of all citizens would ensure.
The welcome rallies are taken out in order to press Constitution Assembly and aware general public about the declaration of Republic.
It is an interesting to know that the name of the First king of the Shah dynasty Kumandal Shah starts with an alphabet 'Ka' of Devnagari Script and the last king Gyanendra with 'Gya' a last alphabet of the script.
