न्यू योर्क, November 18, 2008- अमेरिकाको Virginia International University भर्जिनियामा अध्ययनरत २१ बर्ष कि कृतिका सिंहको सोमबार राती ११ बजेतिर कार दूर्घटनाबाट मृत्युभएको छ । काठमाडौं घर भएकी कृतिकाका आमा-बुवा केशब र सान्दियाका इच्छाअनुसार उनको सबलाई नेपाल पठाउन लाग्ने करीब १० देखी १५ हजार अमेरिकि डलर सङ्कलन गर्न Virginia International University ले सहयोगका लागि अपिल गरेको छ।

WashingtonPost.Com काअनुसार भर्जिनियाको Interstate 66 मा राती ११ बजे कृतिकाले चलाइरहेको Isuzu Rodeo कारको अघिल्तिर गुडिरहेको एक मोटरबाट खसेको mattress का कारण उनले कारको सन्तुलन गुमाएको तथा Seat belt नबाँधेको कारण उनको शरीर कारबाट बाहिर फ्याकिएपछि उनको घटना स्थल मै मृत्‍यु भएको थियो भने उनीसँगै यात्रा गरिरहेका तर Seat belt बाँधेका उज्जवल जोशी भने साधारण घाइते मात्र भएका थिए।

यसरी दु:खद म्रुत्यु हुन गएकी कृतिकाको दाह सँस्कारका लागि सहयोगको अपिल गर्दै प्रकासित गरिएको ब्लगमा भनिएको छ:

Dear Virginia International University Community:

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of one of our beloved students. Ms. Kritika Singh, our BBA student, passed away on November 17, 2008 from the injuries she sustained in a car accident.

Ms. Singh, who hailed from Kathmandu, Nepal, had many friends among us here at Virginia International University. She was a diligent student and a kind and thoughtful member of our community.

Ms. Singh is survived by her parents, Keshab and Sandiya Singh, and her sister Rohini who are in Kathmandu. Our hearts go out to them and to the many people – family and friends, here and abroad -- whose lives she touched.

Subject: ANA Request your Help to send Body of Kritika Singh

Dear All,

Please read the following sad and most unfortunate news that 21 years old Kritika Singh met a premature death while driving in 66 West last night. Her body in Inova hospital now and will have to take the body to funeral home when her kin arrives here from out of state tomorrow.

The sadden family wants the body back to Nepal. We are in process to send the body. I am in communication with university personnel as well for other logistics. We are in great need of cash right now. The association of Nepalese in the Americas (ANA) already decided to help and currently we are working with the other students at VIU. We encourage and request all the local organizations and individuals to come forward and extend helping hand in this critical community crisis.
