New York, Kathmandu, April 9, 2008- निर्वाचन पर्यबेक्षणकालागि नेपाल आउनुभएका पूर्व अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जिम्मी कार्टरका केही कार्यक्रमहरु नेपालस्थित कार्टरले सार्वजनिक गरेको छ । कार्टर सेन्टरका अनुसार मतदानकादिन विहान ९ बजे उहाँले पुल्चोक ललितपुरस्थित एक मतदान केन्द्रमा उहाँले छोटो भनाई राख्नुहुनेछ । ललितपुर क्षेत्र नं ३ अन्तर्गत भूतपूर्व सैनिक भवनमा रहेको मतदान केन्द्रमा कार्टरले आफ्‍ना कुरा राख्ने बताइएको छ ।

नेपाल आएलगत्तै प्रधानमन्त्री कोइरालादेखि माओवादी अध्यक्ष प्रचण्डसम्म र प्रधानसेनापति रुक्माङ्गद कटवालदेखि प्रमुख निर्वाचन आयुक्त भोजराज पोखरेलसम्मलाई भेट्नुभएका कार्टर अप्रिल ११ दिन विहान उहाँ नेपाली सेनाको हेलिकोप्टर चढी फुल्चोकीको छोटो भ्रमणमा जानुहुने कार्यक्रम छ । त्यसपछि उहाँ स्वदेश फर्कनु हुनेछ ।

आफ्‍नी पत्नी रोजालिन र थाइलैण्डका पूर्व उपप्रधानमन्त्री सुराकिरात सारथीसहितको टोलीद्धारा नेपालको चुनावी पर्यवेक्षण गर्नुहुने कार्टरले निर्वाचनको पर्सी पल्ट चैत्र ३० गते अपरान्ह चार बजे पत्रकार सम्मेलन गरी नेपालको चुनाव र पर्यवेक्षण अनुभवबारे पत्रकार सम्मेलन गर्नुहुने कार्यक्रमपनि कार्टर सेन्टरले सार्वजनिक गरेको छ । कार्टर सेन्टरले कार्टरको सुरक्षुकालागि उच्च सम्बेदनशीलता अपनाइएकोपनि बताएको छ ।

The Carter Center's election observation mission in Nepal announces two media opportunities to take place this week in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Center's delegation includes more than 60 observers representing more than 20 different nations deployed throughout the country. The delegation is led by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, his wife, Rosalynn, and former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Surakiart Sathirathai. The Carter Center has been present throughout Nepal's entire electoral process, having established its field office and deployed long-term observers in March 2007.

MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES

The following media opportunities are open to accredited Nepalese media and foreign correspondents in Kathmandu:

On Thursday, April 10, President Carter will give brief remarks at a polling station in Pulchok, Lalitpur, at 0900h. The polling station
is at the ex-army building in Lalitpur constituency number 3.

On Saturday, April 12, The Carter Center will hold a press conference beginning at 1600h at the Megha Conference Center of the
Crowne Plaza Soaltee in Kathmandu, Nepal. Due to security protocols, accredited Nepalese media and foreign correspondents are asked to arrive no later than 1500h using the rear entrance of the Conference Center. If you arrive after 1500h, you will be denied entry. In addition, media are asked to confirm their attendance to Deborah Hakes via e-mail: dhakes@emory.edu[3] by Friday, April 11, 2008. In the confirmation, journalists should note their name, media outlet represented, e-mail, and telephone number.
