कपिलका बुवासँग युएस नेपाल अनलाइनको फोन बार्ता

New York, 18 Feb, 09- पोहर भारतीय प्रहरीमा सिपाही जागिरे गोर्खाली छोरो प्रशान्त तामाङले एक अर्ब जनसङ्ख्या भएको भारतमा इन्डियन आइडल-३ जितेका थिए। यसपाली भारतीय गोर्खाली पल्टनका अर्का सिपाही कपिल थापा मगरले यो गरिमामय ताज पहिरने सम्भाबना पछिल्लो पटक १४ जना फाइनलिस्टहरुबाट चुनिएर टप तीन जनाको अन्तिम राउन्डमा प्रबेश गर्न सफल भएपछि अरु बढेर गएको छ। उनले अब शौरभी र तोर्शा नाम गरेकी दुई भारतीय गायिकाहरुसँग प्रतिस्पर्धा गर्नु पर्ने छ।

आज बिहानै दिल्लीस्थित Business World Magazine (www.businessworld.in) कि कला निर्देसक ज्योति थापाले दिएको विवरणअनुसार युएस नेपाल अनलाइनले कपिलका बुवा अबकास प्राप्त सुबेदार किसानसिंह थापासँग झन्डै आधा घण्टा फोन वार्ता गरेको थियो।

सुबेदार थापाले कपिल हिजो मात्र देहरादुनको कार्यक्रममा भाग लिन आएको र आजै मुम्बई फर्केको बताउँदै भने- "कपिलले आफ्नो एक्लो बलबुताले यहाँसम्म आइ पुगेको छ, अब सम्पूर्ण नेपालीहरुको सदभाब पायो भने आगामी मार्च १ मा हुने अन्तिम प्रतिस्पर्धामा बिजय हासिल गर्न सफल हुने छ।"

उनले आफ्नो माइलो छोरो केशब थापा प्रचार प्रसारको लागि काठमाडौं जाँदै गरेको पनि जानकारी गराए।

सुबेदार साहेबले यो पनि गर्बकासाथ उल्लेख गरे- "कपिललाई सम्पूर्ण भारतीय सेना जवानहरुबाट बहुत हौसला भएको छ। हाम्रो परिवार त ४ पुस्तादेखी भारतीय सेना मै सेवारत छौं। हाम्रो आफ्नो नेपाली समाजले पनि यसरी नै साथ दिने हो भने कपिलले अबश्य जित्ने छ।"

नेपालदेखी भारतको बसाइ सराइ
सुबेदार थापाका अनुसार सन्‌ १९३२ मा नेपालको बैतडी जिल्लाबाट उनका बाजे मनबहादुर थापा मगर देहरादुन बसाइ सरेका थिए। बाजे मनबहादुर र बुवा लालबहादुर थापा दोश्रो गोर्खा राइफल्स (2nd GR) बाट दोश्रो विश्व युद्ध लडेका थिए।

आफ्नो बाजे र बुवाको पद चिन्ह पहिलाउदै किसानसिंह पनि भारतीय गोर्खाली पल्टन चौथो गोर्खा राइफल्समा भर्ती भए। थुप्रै नेपालीहरु भारतीय गोर्खाली पल्टनमा सेवा पछि नेपाल फर्किन्छन्‌ तर मनबहादुरको यो 'लाहुरे' परिवार नेपाल फर्किएन। बरु अहिलेको उत्तरराखन्ड राज्यको देहरादुनको अनकन्टार ठाउँ नयाँ गाउँ, बिजयपुर, अनारवाला, हात्ती बडकलामा बसोबास गर्न थाल्‍यो। अहिले कपिलको सम्पूर्ण परिवार (बुवा, आमा, दुई दाजु-भाउजुहरु र कपिल) त्यसै गाउँमा एउटै घरमा बसोबास गर्दछन्‌।

युएस नेपाल अनलाइनले कपिलबारे छाप्ने समाचारको न्युज लिङ्क पठाउन ईमेल छ कि भन्दा सुबेदार थापाले भने- 'गाउँमा इन्टर्नेट छैन, पछि हाम्रो घरमा आउँदा कपी ल्याइदिनुहोला।"

यो पङ्क्तिकारले यही फेब्रुवरीको अन्तिम हप्ता आफ्नो देहरादुन आउने योजना रहेको बताउँदा सुबेदार थापाले भने- "तपाइहरुलाई स्वागत छ। नेपालका पत्रकार पनि भर्खर यहाँ आएर नेपाल फर्किदै छन्‌। तपाईंहरु सबैले कपिललाई सहयोग गरेर मार्च १ मा जित्न मद्घत गर्नुहोस्।"

लाहुरेको चिनो: गोर्खाली परम्परा
सुबेदार थापा आँफै सन् १९७१ को इन्डो-पाक युद्ध लडेका थिए भने यिनका भाई वीरबहादुर थापा सन् १९९१ को कारगिल युद्ध लडेका थिए।

सुबेदार थापाका तीन वटै छोराहरु भारतीय गोर्खाली पल्टनमा सेवारत छन्। यिनका जेठा छोरा कुशल थापा तेश्रो गोर्खा राइफल्समा छन् भने माइलो छोरा केशब थापा चौथो गोर्खा राइफल्समा सेवारत छन्। केशबले कार्गिलको युद्ध पनि लडेका थिए। कपिल पनि चौथो गोर्खा राइफल्समा सन् २००३ देखी सेवारत सिपाही हुन्।

हक्की स्वाभाबका सुबेदार थापाले गर्बकासाथ आफ्ना छोराहरु भारतीय गोर्खाली सेनामा भएको बेली बिस्तार लगाउन मन पराउँछन्, उनले भने-"मेरा तीन वटै छोराहरु अहिले गोर्खाली पल्टनमा राइफल्मैन (सिपाही) छन्। देशको सेवा गर्न हामो परिवारले कुनै कसुर बाँकी राखेको छैन।"

सन् १९९६ मा पेन्सन आएका सुबेदर थापाले आत्म सन्तुस्टी ब्यक्त गर्दै भने- "छोराहरुलाई देशको सेवामा लगाएको छु। मलाई मेरो पेन्सन्ले मेरो बुढी (श्रीमति कलादेबी थापा) पाल्न पुगी हाल्छ। अब के चाहियो?"

तर यो पङ्तिकारलाई थाहा छ, यतिखेर उनको पेन्सनभन्दा पनि सुबेदार साहेबलाई अहिले नेपालीहरुको सदभाब जरुरी छ- कपिललाई मार्च १ तारिखमा जिताउन। माथि उल्लेखित लिङ्कहरुमा गएर कपिललाई झट्ट चुन्ने बेला आएको छ।

Indian Idol Prashant Tamang &
Other Nepalese Indian Heroes Who Made us Proud

Prashant Tamang, an Indian of Nepalese origin, once again gave Nepalese around the world reason to be proud of our glorious past. By profession a policeman and singer, Prashant is the first contestant of Nepalese-Indian origin to win the coveted title "Indian Idol 2007".

Native of Tungsung, Darjeeling in West Bengal, Prashant Tamang is the only son of Rupa Tamang and her late husband, police officer Madan Tamang. He has one sister.

India's modern history is not complete without calling up the names of many brave and talented Indians of Nepalese origin. Many of us are unaware that the composer of India's national anthem and the song 'Jana Gana Mana', was the late Capt. Ram Singh Thakur, also of Nepalese origin.

Above quoted song's "we Nepalese" message is a witness of 19th century's most memorable Nepalese folk song composer and singer Master Mitrasen Thapa Magar (1895-1946) of Bhagsu, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India, is another Indian of Nepalese origin who, at the very first time, successfully united the Nepalese of Nepal, India, Burma and beyond.

During the Indian Independence Movement, thousands of Nepalese and Indians of Nepalese origin fought the colonial British Raj and sacrified their lives for the freedom of India. Nepalese Indian martyrs Major Durga Malla (executed in Old Delhi Jail, near Delhi Gate-August 24, 1944) and Capt. Dalbahadur Thapa (executed at Central jail, near Lal Killa, Delhi-May 3, 1945) were among the Indians who were executed by British Raj.

77 years ago (1930) when Mahatma Gandhi launched his famous Salt Satyagraha (Salt March), the most inspiring event in the history of the freedom movement of India, there were two Nepalese (Mahavir Giri and Kharag Bahadur Singh Giri) among 78 other satyagrahha marchers.

2500 years ago, Gautam Buddha, who is known as 'Light of Asia', was born in Lumbini, Nepal but his enlightenment was attained in Bodh Gaya, India. Most of his life-long preaching took place in Northern India and thus enriched the ancient Indian philosophy by spreading the message of love and peace.

Last but not least, we should not forget to salute the bravery, martyrdom, honesty and loyalty of hundreds of thousands Gorkhali (Nepalese) who have been serving in Indian army and fought many wars in Kargil to Kohima to protect Indian sovereignty and its independence.

Be proud to be a Nepalese (Nepali). Celebrate the success of Prashant and spread the news of the glorious present and past of Indians of Nepalese origin.
