Californian Nepalese Celebrated Federal Republic Nepal

California, July 7, 2008- A massive gathering of the Nepalese community representing all ethnic groups and regions of northern California held a jubilant function to welcome and celebrate New Federal Republic of Nepal.

It was one of the most impressive celebrations of Nepalese residents of northern California. It was attended by the NANC Presidents Nabin Adhikari, Vice President Tej Rai and other officials, Berkely Annapurna Lions Club President Mani Nepali, NPRCA California President Binod Bhatta and many important people of the Bay area.

The event took place in family picnic style with lots of group chatting, games and laughter. The women had their own interesting games while children enjoyed running freely in the protected open green lawn of Golden Gate Park. There were other interesting games like volleyball, hot potatoes, hiding the handkerchief and marble balancing race.

The Master of Ceremonies was Ang Chhiring Sherpa and Ashok Gautam gave the welcome speech. The prizes were distributed by Advocate Roshan Subba Libang who was also one of the event coordinators. The function was organized by an independent group comprised of Ashok Gautam, Roshan Subba, Santosh Lama, Resham Lama, Ang Nawang Sherpa, Yan Rai, Pushpa Pokharel, Laxman Adhikari, Baikuntha Khanal, Harihar Dahal and Iswar Sapkota.

Ashok Gautam, on behalf of the organizing committee, said that this function will continue with even bigger participation and improved management in future. The gathering concluded with vote of thanks by Sagar Koirala.
