अमेरिकाको ४४ औं राष्ट्रपतिमा ओबामाको ऐतिहासिक बिजय
४३ बर्ष अघीसम्म भोट हाल्न नपाउने काला जातिको उन्मुक्ती!

न्यू योर्क, November 4, 2008- अमेरिकी नागरिकहरुको लागि यो भन्दा खुशीको दिन अरु कुन हुन सक्छ ? अमेरिका सपनाको मुलुक र आप्राबासीले बनेको देश त्यसै भनिएको होइन । डेमोक्रेटिक पार्टीका राष्ट्रपति उमेद्वार सिनेटर तथा बकिल बाराक ओबामा, जसको बुवा अफ्रिकी मुलुक केन्याका आप्रबासी थिए र आमा चाँही अमेरिकी गोरा जातिकी थिइन्‌, ले अमेरिकाको ४४ औं राष्ट्रपति बन्ने सौभाग्य पाएकाछन्। रिपब्लिकन पार्टीका राष्ट्रपति उमेद्वार सिनेटर जोन मेक्कैनले यसपाली पनि जित्न सकेनन्।

आजभन्दा ४३ बर्ष अघी अर्थात सन् १९६५ सम्म अमेरिकि नागरिक काला जातिले चुनावमा भोट खसाल्न पाउँदैनथे। सन् १८७० को फेब्रुअरी ३ मा पारित अमेरिकि संबिधानको १५ औं संसोधन (The Fifteenth Amendment (Amendment XV) to the United States Constitution) ले जाति, छालाको रङ्गको आधारमा मतदान गर्नबाट बन्चित गर्न नपाउने संबैधानिक प्राबधान गरे पनि सन् १९६५ अगस्त ६ मा अमेरिकि राष्ट्रपती लिन्डेन जोन्सनले Voting Rights Act जारी गरी अफ्रिकन-अमेरिकन (काला जाति) जातिका नागरिकहरुले राष्ट्रब्यापी रुपमा मतदान गर्न पाउने अधिकारको ग्यारेन्टी गरेपछि मात्र काला जातिले निर्बिबाद चुनावमा भोट खसाल्न थालेका हुन्‌।

उसो त आधा आकाश ओगट्‍ने अमेरिकी महिलाहरुले चुनावमा भोट खसाल्ने अधिकार पाएको शिर्फ ८८ बर्ष अघी मात्र हो अर्थात सन् १९२० मा मात्र अमेरिकी संबिधानको १९ औं संसोधान (The Nineteenth Amendment (Amendment XIX) to the United States Constitution) ले यो अधिकार ग्यारेन्टी गरेको हो।

अमेरिकाको कुल जन सङ्ख्या झन्डै ३० करोड (303,824,640-July 2008 est.) को काला जाति शिर्फ 12.85 प्रतिसत छन् भने गोरा जाति 79.96 प्रतिसत छन् ।

सन् १९७१ देखीमात्र १८ बर्षसम्मका अमेरिकीहरुले भोट खसाल्न पाउने ब्यबस्था गरिएको हो। यसपालीको चुनाव अमेरिकी युबाहरुले अत्यधिक मात्रामा भोट खसाल्न प्रेरित गर्ने बाराक ओबामा आफै ४७ बर्षका युबा छन्।

झन्डै ५० अर्ब रुपैयाँ (६४० मिलियन अमेरिकि डलर) खर्च गरेर चुनाव जितेका जोसिला ओबामाले, अब हेर्नु छ, अमेरिकाको भबिस्य कसरी सुधार्ने हुन्।

बधाई हाम्रा नयाँ राष्ट्रपाति ओबामालाई !
