Senior Maoist leader and Defense Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Baadal’ said the democracy in New Nepal will be one where people of equal status will compete with one another and will be elected by the people. Speaking at the eighth anniversary of Athar Magrat Magar Pratisthan (AMMP) here in the capital on Saturday Minister Thapa said, “We will not accept the democracy where strong people compete with the poor and defeat them. In our New Nepal’s democracy, people of the same status will compete with one another." He said the new constitution will end the dominance of strong people and will define competitive politics in a new way. "We will not allow it to be a democracy of landlords, corrupt and feudal people." He claimed that such democracy will bring the marginalized into the political mainstream through proportional representation. Minister Thapa said the new constitution will rule out the establishment of any form of monarchy or dictatorship and replace centralized structure with a new federal structure to ensure the rights and identities of people from various castes, languages, classes and geographical regions. |

He said in New Nepal, Nepali will make decisions themselves and implement them for building the country they have envisioned for years. "We will not let any foreign powers influence decisions to be made in new Nepal. We want to bring a nationalist constitution where Nepali themselves will make decisions and implement them to make the New Nepal we have dreamt about,” he said. ![]() Similarly, Senior Maoist leader and Minister for Information and Communication Krishna Bahadur Mahara urged people to support the government in building new Nepal. “We are not confused in our determination to build the New Nepal we have been dreaming of. For reconstruction of the country and making of a new Constitution we need support from you all,” he stated. At the same program, Barsaman Pun Magar (alias Ananata) inaugurated the screening of the documentary 'Jora Syai' that is based on the Magar cultural dance that is on the verge of extinction. “Jora Syai” the term Magar language means ‘duo dance”. It is a folk tale which tells the story of the union between King Madhukar and Queen Malati and the tragedy of the Himali bird Danphe and Tarai bird Peacock. It is a traditional song-drama. The documentary was produced by AMMP under the direction of Pradeep Bomjan. Bom Kumari Budha Magar, Chairperson of AMMP said it was of utmost necessity for Magars to delve into their history and document it. “We have to pass along our cultural heritages to new generations where they are transferable, and where non-transferable we need to document them so that we do not lose both our history and identity.” ![]() Advisor of AMMP Dr. Harsha Bahadur Budha Magar said, "Any ethnic communities’ existence/identity is connected with their culture and language and therefore it needs to be promoted and protected.” The best way he said, will be to transfer them to our upcoming generation. ![]() Pradeep Bomjan, Lt.
