अमेरिकामा कुल २० हजार ३४१ एर्पोर्ट, सन्‌ २००७ मा मात्र ७,६०० पंक्षि बिमान दुर्घटना

न्यू योर्क, January 16, 2009- न्यू योर्क म्यानहटन शहरको पश्चिम किनारामा बग्ने हड्‍सन नदिमा हिजो दिउसो ३:३१ बजे पंक्षि दुर्घटनाका कारण अपर्झट उतारिएको US Airways को Airbus A320 फ्लाइट १५४९ का दुई पाइलट, तीन फ्लाइट एटेन्देन्ट सहित जहाज मा यात्रारत सबै १५५ जना यात्रुहरु सकुशल बाँच्न सफल भएका छन्‌।

उक्त जहाजका ५७ बर्शिय पाइलट Chesley B. Sullenberger III को २० बर्षको उडान अनुभब, बहादुरी र सुझबुझको कारण यसरी पानीमा गरिएको आकास्‍मिक अबतरणमा सबका सब यात्रुहरुको ज्यान बच्न सकेको हो।

उक्त जहाज न्यू योर्कको स्थानिय बिमानस्थल ला-गुर्डियाबाट दिउसो ३:०३ बजे अमेरिकाको अर्को राज्य नोर्थ कार्लिनाको चार्लोट जादै गर्दा आकाशमा उडिरहेका चराहरु जहाजको दुइटै इन्जिनमा ठोक्किन गई दुइटै इन्जिन बन्द भएपछि अकस्‍मात उतार्नु परेको थियो।

U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration का अनुसार अमेरिकामा कुल २० हजार ३४१ एर्पोर्ट छन् जस मध्ये सार्वजनिक ब्याबसायिक प्रायोजनका एर्पोर्टहरु ५ हजार २२१ र प्राइभेट प्रायोजनका एर्पोर्टहरु १४ हजार ८३९ वटा छन्‌ भने हेलिपोर्ट चाँही ५ हजार ७०८ वटा छन्‌। Source: www.faa.gov; Number of U.S. Airports as of December 31, 2008.

उता Bird Strike Committee USA (http://www.birdstrike.org) का अनुसार सन्‌ २००७ मा मात्र ७ हजार ६०० पंक्षि र बन्य जन्तुसबन्धित अमेरिकि ब्याबसायिक बिमान दुर्घटना भएको जनाएको छ। जस मध्ये सन्‌ १९९० देखी २००७ सम्मको पंक्षि दुर्घटनामध्ये चराहरु वाटर फाउल ३१ प्रतिसत, गुल्स २६ प्रतिसत, र राप्टोर्स १८ प्रतिसत छन्‌।

यो दुर्घटनाको सङ्ख्या अमेरिकाम सन्‌ १९९० देखी २००७ सम्म ५६ हजारभन्दा बढी रहेको छ।

उक्त समितिका अनुसार सन्‌ १९९८ मा विश्व भर २१९ जना पंक्षि दुर्घटनाबाट मृत्‍यु भएको छ।

US AIRWAYS FLIGHT 1549 UPDATE # 2

TEMPE, Ariz. Jan. 15, 2009— US Airways (NYSE: LCC) has confirmed that flight 1549 has been involved in an accident. The 1549 was en route to Charlotte from LaGuardia. The flight was operated with a crew of two pilots and three flight attendants. US Airways’ primary concern at this time is for those on board the airplane and their families.

Flight 1549 was originally scheduled for departure at 2:45 p.m. Eastern Time. The flight’s actual time of departure was 3:03 p.m. Eastern Time.

Airline officials are in direct contact with local, state and national authorities and are cooperating fully with emergency response efforts. US Airways has activated the “US Airways Care” team of specially trained employee volunteers to assist families and passengers.

US Airways is confirming passenger and crew names and will issue those as soon as possible.

Individuals who believe they may have family members on board flight 1549 may call US Airways at 1-800-679-8215 within the United States. This number can be reached toll-free from international locations through AT&T’s USADirect®. To contact an AT&T operator, please visit http://www.usa.att.com/traveler for USADirect® access codes.
